An exhaust tip, also known as a tailpipe, is the visible part of a vehicle's exhaust system. Cleaning an exhaust tip is an important step in maintaining its appearance and durability. Here's how to effectively clean an exhaust tip:
Step 1: Cool the engine: Before you start, make sure the engine is completely cool, as the tip can be very hot after use.
Step 2: Prepare soapy water: Fill a bucket with warm water and add a few drops of mild dish washing soap. Mix to make a soapy solution.
Step 3: Clean the tip: Dip a soft-bristled brush or sponge into the soapy solution. Gently scrub the tip to remove accumulated dirt, grease, and residue.
Step 4: Rinse with clean water: Once you've cleaned the tip, rinse it with clean water to remove all traces of soap. Make sure all soapy areas are thoroughly rinsed.
Step 5: Dry with a soft cloth: Use a microfiber cloth or soft cloth to dry the exhaust tip. This will help prevent the formation of water spots or mineral deposits.

Sometimes, exhaust tips can change the sound of your car, the sound of the engine exhaust when it passes through the different parts of the exhaust system. Depending on factors such as the length, diameter of the tip, and whether the tip is angled downward, the tip can make the exhaust note different than before.

Not all types increase the overall volume of your vehicle, so it depends on the length and diameter of the tips. Shorter, wider tips make your vehicle more noisy. On the other hand, longer, narrower tips can make your car quieter.
By allowing more exhaust gases to pass through and allowing sound waves to ricochet freely around their large chamber, short, wide tips tend to make your car noisier.
