Step 1: Check All Parts and Hardware

Step 2: Install Waterproof Seal Strips

After checking all the parts, let's move on to the first step of formal installation. Inspect the front bed rail of your pickup. If it appears noticeably lower than the side rails, you'll need to fill this gap to prevent water from leaking in. Use the provided weather seal strips to fill any gaps. This step is very important. Many people experience water leakage after installing the cover because the sealing strip is not installed properly. This step will maintain the integrity and waterproof capabilities of your tonneau cover.

Step 3: Position the Main Cover Assembly

Take the main cover assembly and place it carefully on the front bed rail. Make sure the cover completely covers the waterproof strips and that the sides are parallel to the truck side rails before moving on to the next steps.

Step 4: Attach the Side Rails

Now, take the side rails and slide their ends into the bulkheads.

Once in place, tighten the screws at the bulkhead.

You must ensure that the side rails are perfectly aligned with the inner edge of the bed rails for a seamless fit.

Step 5: Secure the Side Rails with Clamps

Next, you'll be attaching the side rails to the bed railing using the provided clamps. Slide the bottom piece of the clamp into the utility track and spread them out evenly. As you attach the top half of the clamp, make sure the jaws of the top piece are hooked fully into the inner channel of the side rails.

Tighten the clamps, but be cautious not to over-tighten, as this could cause the side rails to collapse or warp the cover.

Step 6: Roll Out the Cover

Unhook the safety straps and begin to roll out the cover along the Velcro tape on the side rails. As you unroll, keep adjusting the tarp to ensure it is fully stretched out along the rails. This step will help your bed cover to have a smooth, wrinkle-free appearance.

Step 7: Engage the Locking Mechanism

Once the cover is fully rolled out, try engaging the locking mechanism. If installed correctly, the latch head should fit horizontally into the groove of the tension plate. Test the functionality by closing and opening the tailgate. Carefully release the tension plate with the cable to ensure everything is working smoothly.

Step 8: Adjust the Tension Plate if Necessary

If the latch head doesn't reach the tension plate or fails to stay latched, adjust the tension plate offset along the rail. Loosen the screws slightly, reposition the plate, and retighten the screws. This fine-tuning will ensure a secure and reliable latch.
